Styled Shoot |16th Street Station| Oakland
Close up of the monster bouquet.
This styled shoot was done over a year ago and it’s absolutely one of my favorites! I love doing styled shoots so I can be super creative and design flowers exactly the way that I’m imagining in my head. One of my favorite photographers, Ginny Silver of Retrospect Images, and I have collaborated on several gorgeous shoots over the years. I love working with Ginny because she is a great stylist, she’s super organized and creative. Ginny puts together an all star, professional team and we get it done.
This shoot was a bit of a challenge because we had a very short rental time for the venue and there was another shoot going on at the same time!
The first look was a gorgeous dress by Rita Vinieris and for this one I created a HUGE bouquet. This white, flowing bridal bouquet has gone viral and you may have seen it on a lot of inspiration or mood boards. It’s all over Pinterest! I used lots of garden roses, peonies, ranunculus, amaryllis, euphorbia, spray roses and variegated ivy to get this look. Our lovely model, Paden, was a great sport, this baby was heavy!
A classic bridal bouquet. This was a delight to design.
I loved creating this bouquet! The variegated ivy makes it extra dramatic.
That’s me, behind the scenes, fluffing the ivy so it looks perfect!
The next look was spontaneous - I cut some pampas grass from the parking lot and wrapped it with some vintage ribbon I had in my tool box.
Pampas grass is a big trend right now. It’s really important to treat it properly because it’s super invasive.
This next dress from Gahlia Lahav made me do a happy dance! The bouquet I had designed and created looked perfect with this stunning gown. This design had a combination of Koko Loko and Distant Drums garden roses with dried lunaria and bleached, dried ferns.
My happy dance bouquet.
This dress!
The final bouquet I designed for this shoot was an abundance of garden roses with fall foliage. All of these flowers and foliage were sourced locally, that’s really important to me so I can support local flower farmers and the blooms are always superior quality and last so much longer.
Local fall garden roses with fall foliage from my garden.
I love this playful pose.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Please ask any questions you may have about styled shoots, designing similar bouquets or sourcing local flowers.
